Overview of Tour:
Step behind the counter and into the stock rooms of five top specialty shops during this four-hour tour. Proprietors indulge your curiosity with samplings from their choice sources. Learn how these artisan owners select the excellent from the best.
Learn from local masters: How do feed ingredients and handling procedures contribute to the taste, texture and mouth-feel of artisan cheeses? What effect weather has on cocoa and how it makes a chocolate stand out? In what way should the cut of meat contribute to its preparation? Why does country of origin matter when pairing wines? What should you know about how import/export operations change the taste of spices? How can you get the freshest, truest flavorings? And, taste-test the brine of your salts to discover how sea environments contribute differently to savory recipes.
Tours will include five of the following fine shops as time permits exclusive access to be scheduled with the proprietors. (Please note that Colorado law is very specific about wine tastings and requires our guests to be age 21. Alternative beverages are available.)
