Recipes for Internet Success

From simple to sensational, the Internet can help stir up business.

Overview of class:

Membership in the USPCA has many great benefits, one of those is your listing on the HireAChef website and your free “MyChefSite” web page, but is that enough of a web presence to help build your business? When you visit a web page, the “Domain Name” is the text between the “www.” and the “.com. Acquiring your own domain name is simple and inexpensive. Once you have a domain name, building a quality web site and setting up an e-mail address can also be simple using the tips from this class. There is a clear professional advantage when you have a website with your business name; for example, “www.MYCHEFBUSINESS.com”, and an e-mail address that matches, such as “ChefPaul@MYCHEFBUSINESS.com”

In this class, we will take a look at simple ways to register your domain name and set up an e-mail address, and we will build a basic website. Yes, we will actually build a real website that you will be able to access on the Internet once the class is finished. We will also have open discussions on web site content, such as pricing, menus, services, and photographs of food.

What you will take away from this class:

• How to register a domain name and set up an e-mail account using your domain name.
• What you need to build your website.
• Website content, what will work and what might hurt your business.
• Tips on marketing yourself on the Internet.
• Access to the real website created in class that will contain links to additional material and resources.

Target Audience: Beginner / Growth
Beginner = beginner level – few if any regular clients, in business less than 6 months, green at every level
Growth = growth level – has regular clients but needs to get more business in mainstream PCS, understands concepts
