Advanced Business Development Class

Outside the Kitchen – developing multiple streams of income, without a knife:

Do you have a craft you enjoy? How about sewing or woodworking? Did you know you can make money outside of the kitchen while enjoying your down-time? There are only so many cookdays you can handle, how about selling your “crafts"?

It all started with me by looking for economical client gifts, some extra fabric and a pile of wood… now I’m sewing “retro” aprons and cutting out grilling planks!

So you aren’t crafty??? Well, do you have a relationship with a nutritionist or personal trainer? How about doing a joint venture with either, both or some other fitness professional? Think “Boot Camp with a Chef.” And potentially be a part of the group yourself so you get not only new clients, but a kick in your own chef pants!

Come see what options are open for you – “Outside the Kitchen!”

Instructor/Speaker

Robyn Barber

Chef Robyn has been juggling two careers since early 2006. She graduated from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1984 with a BA in mathematics and pursued a career in computer programming in Nashville. Robyn later obtained an MBA from Belmont University and continued her career in applications programming.

After over 15 years with the same company, Chef Robyn found herself in the middle of one buyout too many. She decided to follow her love of cooking and attended the Quick Start program in St. Louis. She immediately started her personal chef business and has been building her clientele over the last three years while reducing her hours as a programmer.

She is a member of the United States Personal Chef Association, a graduate of the Culinary Business Academy and became a Certified Personal Chef in 2008. Robyn is the President of the recently revived Middle Tennessee Chapter of the USPCA. Chef Robyn also serves as an official recipe tester for Cooks Illustrated magazine.

Robyn and her husband Bill live in Nashville. They have four children, Eli, Laura, Josh and Hannah and two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, RocksAnne and Tabasco. She enjoys weight training, bicycling, scuba diving and snow skiing.
