The idea for Regional conferences came about in 2001 when it became apparent that the planning and hosting of a 2002 National Conference would not become a reality unless we sacrificed either the quality or content of our National Conference. Time was not on our side. The increasing popularity of the USPCA National Conferences has caused us to outgrow most medium-sized venues necessitating a move to larger properties, which affordable ones are fewer and farther in between. Hence advance planning is critical especially since most properties that could handle our organizations size are booked at least a year in advance. The decision was made to slightly change the format of the conference and bring it to your region in the form of small, regional conferences.
The Regional Conference concept is something new for the association and we are glad that so many of our members found time to attend one or more of these events. By being a smaller, more intimate gathering we were able to take advantage of the wider array of smaller, more affordable properties.
Special thanks to all the chapters and their members who worked tirelessly to help make these events a rousing success. And thanks to all who attended the regional conferences.
