Personal Chef Conference - July 24-26, 2009

New Orleans, LA July 23 - 26

USPCA chefs change the way America eats by thinking “big” and making it “easy”!

The “Big Easy”, New Orleans, Louisiana was the perfect destination for the 2009 United States Personal Chef Association annual conference. The gorgeous New Orleans Marriott in the beautiful French Quarter was the host hotel for chefs from all over the United States and Canada.

"Chef Leah Chase and Chef Frank Brigtsen

Thinking “Big” and taking it “Easy” is exactly what we did. By day, attendees learned how to take their businesses to the level they desired by attending a wide variety of business and “foodie” classes and demos, taught by experts in the field. Business classes were primary but not to be outdone by the wonderful demo’s given for all to learn techniques. By night everyone went in search of the ultimate "Nawlins" meal and the good times offered by the French Quarter.

The USPCA honors its members by bestowing awards for Personal Chef of the Year, best WebSite, best Recipe and Chapter of the Year. Our congratulations to the 2009 recipients of these awards, All have gone above and beyond to create amazing businesses and truly impact the communities where they live.

The Chefs Knock Out was a huge hit for the second year in a row and has started a tradition of Chef’s duking it out to see who use of the secret ingredient pleased the judges most! Tabasco provided the secret ingredient for 2009 and you can rest assured that in 2010, the competition will be fierce as the grand prizes become bigger and better!

Although the weather was hot and steamy, the chefs found New Orleans to be a foodie paradise. Sipping on a cold beverage while trying a huge variety of seafood and specialized New Orleans dishes was a wonderful experience for everyone.

As a way to give back to the community, USPCA members volunteered with the Saint Bernard Project to help feed those in need and rebuild homes for those affected by hurricane Katrina in 2005.

In the end, a good time was had by all and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2010 at the Hyatt Regency in Denver, Colorado, July 30-August 1.
